I. WHAT

I.1. What is a fame mule?
A fame mule is any character that can be accessed in order to fame (and defame, when people are not quite as deserving of your fame). The only requisite is that you are lv15 or above.

I.2. What is this guide?
This guide details most keypresses necessary to get from lv1-15 in the shortest possible time. It is part of Ji's attempt to express her obsession with making many characters. Singleminded, focused pursuits are fun and relaxing. The fact that a fame mule has a finite number of levels and no other requirement means it can be done over and over again, without feeling as if each character's purpose has not yet been fulfilled.

In writing this guide, she hopes you will also enjoy making armies and armies of fame mules!
Ji realises that most people who have made multiple characters will be familiar with most of the techniques in this guide. For those people, this guide is not intended to instruct, merely to document. (Even for the people who are not familiar with them, constantly alt-tabbing is probably not the fastest way to level something, either.) She also realises the likelihood that this guide will change drastically due to Nexon's frequent updates to the interface. That is okay. She just really really likes making mules and hopes you will too.

II. CHARACTER CREATION

II.1. Stats
In the current version of MS, stats are automatically optimised (and not randomised) so that every beginner begins with 12/5/4/4 without clicking a die for 17 hours first. (If this reverts, there is still no need to click a die for 17 hours. It's a mule. Anything will do.) Therefore, the only work you have while creating your character is deciding its name and modifying its default look.

II.2. Name
No one will see this name unless you are faming/defaming them, and then the idea is that you'll quickly log off and get out another one so it doesn't really matter what you call them. You probably shouldn't refer to your main character's IGN in it however. Eg: AlisonZyle would not name her fame mules AlisonZyle1, AlisonZyle2 and AlisonZyle3 to avoid being stalked back on her main character.

II.3. Look
This is entirely your preference.

III. INTRODUCTION AND KEY

III.1. Introduction
According to hidden-street.net's EXP tables, courtesy of Username316, to get from level 1 to level 15 requires 20299 EXP. Considering that your first visible monster gives 1 EXP, this sounds daunting. Unless you are an ex-apple camper* type fame mule, this guide will hopefully make it a lot easier than that.

* beginners who used to remain clothed in apple NX by never leaving the Mushroom Training Camp. Because the Camp has been replaced by Mushroom Town in the current version of gMS (no apple NX), apple campers no longer exist. Maple Island undergoes many changes!

Levelling a fame mule has two main parts, Maple Island and Victoria Island. The reason for this is that mule levelling is greatly accelerated on Maple Island by means of the quests. The MI section will focus on how to most efficiently move through the quests. Victoria Island quests, however satisfying for the obsessive-compulsive or Aspie, will generally augment other means of experience, such as map-centred training. The Victoria section of this guide will detail one route that Ji thinks could be the quickest means of experience (but not necessarily anything else (like mesos), since this is just a fame mule after all).
In this guide I have tried my hardest not to describe too much/little. Please let me know whether I have succeeded or not.

III.2. Key
(i) "end++" - right enter enter
You will note that most quests are received with a particular ending sequence, with some exceptions. When you see the orange "yes/no" buttons at the bottom of a new screen instead of the blue "next" button, you learn to execute the ending sequence (right enter enter). Similarly "end+" (right enter), "end+++" (right enter enter enter) - some quests will have a shorter or longer "ending." I will express this with the number of "+"s following.
(ii) A break between paragraphs represents a new map, or several new maps. For example, Heena and Sera are both on the map "Mushroom Town - Entrance to Mushroom Town Training Camp," while Roger is on the map "Mushroom Town - Maple Road." After much agonising, I decided not to document every single keypress including "up" for portals...

IV. MAPLE ISLAND

You will receive fixed exp from quests as well as variable exp from monster kills. Some quests require monster kills as part of the quest requirements; exp from these will vary. Other monster kills just happen randomly :). Most of your Maple Island exp, as I say, will come from quests. This section is divided into Mushroom Town quests and Maple Road quests.

This is the end of your Maple Island experience.
V. VICTORIA ISLAND

I write this guide for people who prioritise EXP. However, I realise some people like to have all their quests completed or at least begun on all their characters, for the sake of completeness. There are therefore two threads throughout the Victoria Island section, one for NON-QUESTERS and one for QUEST LOVERS. In general, only the first few quests on Victoria Island are the best option at that point for EXP gain. The rest of the quests also give EXP, but for each quest there is always another option that would yield faster EXP (in our case, HPQ. Exchange quests and well-organised powerleeching will also yield faster EXP than quests, but require equally long preparation if you haven't anticipated it. Training at these levels is probably not the fastest method but will still be a better alternative to quests if you cannot get into HPQ.).

V.1. Olaf quests
- Leftmost side of the ship, jump down, teleport
Olaf: enter(3) end+
Olaf: enter(4?) --> [500 EXP - LEVEL 10]

>- Teleport
>- Right portal
>

V.4. Optional HPQ - skip to V.6 if you are lv12
- HPQ as a beginner until you are level 12. The current version of gMS means you will be reimbursed AP for levels higher than the minimum job requirement, however as a warrior the skill "Max HP increase" needs to be begun at lv12.

V.5. Optional Amoria quest - skip to V.6 if you are lv12

- Don't auto-assign AP as you will now HPQ. Equip your maple flag/lowest attack weapon instead and be a lurer for your party.
- 5 SP into Improve HP recovery and 2 SP into Max HP increase.
- Scroll back to Henesys
V.7. HPQ.
- Henesys Park

- HPQ your way to lv15, only adding SP to Max HP increase.
(TIP: If your fame mule is also a permanent HPQer, you may wish to keep Slash blast at level 1 when you get to lv16.)
- Store your mule wherever you need it most - for most of the maple population, it'll be Henesys FM.
Congratulations. You have made a fame mule.

Rinse and repeat.

VII. DISCLAIMER
I don't own any of this. The key sequences are common knowledge; no one bothered to write them all down is all. (...would anyone copyright key sequences...?)

Please note:
